Shed Number 1863 Later changes 1923. Most ex-LMS engines had 40000 added to their numbers but those with numbers over 20000 were renumbered in the 58xxx series to avoid the 6xxxx series used for ex-LNER locomotives.

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s the shed employed over 100 men and had a typical allocation of 30 locomotives. Previously 12C reopened as sub-shed 1958. It is believed that the shed was originally named Clydebank.
It then took a few years to renumber all the locomotives. The shed code was 26B this is reflected in the name of the company that owns the loco 26B Railway Co Ltd. Originally the mess hut was an early coach body located just outside the shed.

The coding system had its origins in a reorganisation of locomotive operation and maintenance on the LMS in the 1933-35 period. 293 lignes Code 12B until 10 June 1950 and again from 1 February 1958.
